What are your idle temperatures using HWMonitor?

I would like to know, because my GPU temperatures seem a bit high on idle of around the 60-70 mark.

Yah, you are a bit warm for idle, I don't get above 69C on my GPU even with my OC and even after gaming for hours.

Have you blown out your fans/cooling system?

Ok... just turned laptop on this morning and did a quick test

Value = temperature as soon as I exit CounterStrike Source

Min = Idle temperature when laptop was turned on

Max = Max temperature laptop hit when doing the Video Stress Test in CounterStrike Source...

    Do these look about right?

Obviously if I where gaming for a couple of hours it would hit around the 80C am I correct?

TonyZ, mines reach even 90 degrees when gaming, but of course, playing games like DIRT, Crysis, or COD4... When playing GRID, TF2, some COD4 maps, or CS never goes above 85... Even below 80 most of time... It all depends on the game and if you overclock...

One thing, i get almost the same temps, except for the hard drives... Mines are always at 39~42 degrees.. Don't know why... I guees your room temps are way lower than mines (my room is at around 26~30 degrees most of time)... My hard drivers NEVER go below 34 (yours go way down, even 25) and my Processor idles at 52...

Hi JosePerez, what are your idle temperatures AFTER gaming for a few hours?

and how long does it take for it to reach the idle temperatures after exiting the game?

My CPU seems to not want to drop below 58C
GPU does not want to drop below 69C-73C
    HDD's both around 44

all after gaming... and while not having anything open, left alone for like 30 minutes.

My fans may be the cause, as I have not cleaned them out since january 1st 2008....

I have a notebook cooler arriving in the post tomorrow, I will see the differences in temperatures then.

Does anyone have any tips on cleaning the fans 'without' opening up the laptop (as doing so voids warranty)

To clean your fans, remove the battery and AC power from the notebook, insert something thin and small like a paper clip (uncoiled) or a twist tie to stick through the vent (between the fan blades, and of course make sure you can and do remove the paper clip or twist tie from the vent). This will lock the fan and keep it from spinning to fast and damaging itself. Then, use an air compressor or a can of compressed air with a little red straw, and blow through the fan vents on the bottom of the laptop. You should see large masses of dust fly out of your vent, which means it is working. Then you remove the paper clip, insert the battery and plug it into AC, and watch your temps.

    35 cpu, 60gpu idle.

Mine recently were nearly 30deg hotter, even reaching 105 on the GPU gaming before crashing. I blew everything out as described above, and now it runs much cooler.

Ok, i grabbed the hoover and sucked out most of the dust from the GPU fan, seeing an improvement of 5C on each GPU...

BUT, how do i clear out the CPU fan? as there is a piece of cover in the way covering the vent under the base.
