Every now and then, I get an error where I won't be able to play MP3 files, and going to Control Panel -> Sound application, I get a message:
"Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems: Realtek HDMI Output (2 - Realtek High Definition Audio) Would you like to disable Driver Enhancements for this device?"
Then I get the same thing for "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)"
I downloaded the latest drivers from Realtek's website and it works for a little, then repeats the same issue. The only solution I have found is to do a system restore point, which only solves the problem temporarily.
And updating the drivers did nothing but now when I put the laptop on standby, and wake it up, resuming playing music from any audio application will cause the sound to only come through the subwoofer and not the regular speakers! I have to close any of that software and reopen them for this to be corrected.
Frustrating! Considering I am almost always listening to music!
Anyone else have this same problem?

I had the same thing for "Speakers" and the sub only problem too and that same day Fileinfo.sys got corrupted and killed Vista. I had to restore Vista 3 days after I bought my x205. Pretty sad.

yeah I have a x205 sli1 and everytime I put it to sleep, I guess it's called standby mode, and then wake it up it'll only play sound through the subwoofer (speaker located on the bottom). The only way I can get the four speakers on top to play sound again is if I restart the notebook. I've tried calling toshiba tech support and the farthest we got was downloading the drivers from the toshiba site and it still didn't work, infact when I did that no sound would play at all, so I had to do a system restore. Hopefully someone can help.

After recovering the entire system and reinstalling everything again, I got the same problem once again the same exact day I did it. But I did more searching...
If you have the audio enhancements giving you problems, more than likely your network status icon in the system tray has a red X and says server status unknown as well. (What the network and audio have to do with eachother, I have no idea!) Also apparently not having the latest and greatest version of AIM causes this conflict.
If this is the same case for you... I found the problem/solution:
1. I uninstalled AIM (5.9... I hate the look of the newer versions... but I guess I'm stuck with them)
2. Open command prompt and put in "Net localgroup Administrators localservice /add"
3. Reboot
Whether uninstalling AIM made a difference, I am not sure. But nonetheless, hope this helps you guys!
As far as sleeping and returning to windows and the sound coming out of the subwoofer only, I only had that problem when I used the latest version on the Realtek website. So I would simply suggest not updating the Realtek drivers at all. I'm not going to bother, they sound fine.
