Yesterday I purchased one of the new X205's at Best Buy. This evening I've been putting it through its paces playing WoW and have found a weird problem. The game briefly stutters every few seconds. This stuttering occurs in conjunction with the left side fan (? video card fan) spinning either up or down. Any idea what's causing this? I'm using modded 163.39 drivers.

    Thanks,

There have been a number of people reporting stuttering (or studdering as you put it) in games (many in WoW). Among things people have found to fix the issue were: enable triple buffering for the 8600 card, and enabling v-sync.

In addition you should disable hard drive indexing, and read through and put into effect many of the tips in the Vista tweak guide:

Thanks. Will try that and report back. Also, sorry for the typo. :)

Yep. I'd recommend disabling the Indexing and Superfetch services. My X205 runs bizarrely slow due at times when I have Superfetch on, even after a long time of use. When I try to run Photoshop with Photoshop on it it's so slow even opening the menus the app becomes unusable. The intro movies in Dawn of War wouldn't even play smooth 'til I disabled it.

Disabling Superfetch fixed a LOOOT of problems regarding slowdowns, stuttering, etc.
