your hard drive is showing signs that it may fail soon.

but maybe not. it is a risk that you have to decide to take. you may lose some important info. back it up just in case.

Please do not shake your laptop if you hear noises from the HD. If you do, the next noise you hear may be the screech of the heads carving grooves in your hard drive platters.

Youd have to say more about the sound before any judgements could be made. Clicking? Whining? Thrashing(repeated loud access sounds)? When EXACTLY does it make the noise? Does the hard drive access icon light up(next to your power, battery indicators, and bright satellite branding)? How long does it last? Are you running on AC power or battery? How often does it do it?

just turning on laptop, and this sound comes out of first HD,
its last all time, sometimes louder ,sometimes not, yup, lights on, on satellite, and hd access , on AC power, put away battery. yesterday i read on HD cover, that RUMBLE sound is normal. so maybe its rumble noise. Because other HD is without any sounds,

Well, it's just a thought, but Vista is only installed on one HD. It might be loading your startup programs.

Also, it may be antivirus software scanning your HD(probably a lot of small files on that drive)

Whatever it is, it probably is normal operation, but the question is what is using that HD when it makes those loud noises.

Try defragmenting your HD and cutout some startup programs.
