I went and got the game manhunt for PC to see what all the controversey was about, and it won't play in compatability mode or under administrator. My question is are there any hotfixes or patches for this problem for vista home premium 32 bit? Because I was scrolling through the list of 3D programs in the NVIDIA controller and it lists manhunt so i'm confused as to why it won't work. I installed everything correctly and when i click the .exe I get APPCRASH. I apologize if this has already been discussed before. Even if there isn't anything out there for this game in particular, could someone point me to where I might be able to find all the hotfixes for vista home premium 32 bit and NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT? Thank you.

You can try running the program by changing the compatibility mode to winsows xp or windows 98. Right click the exe file > properties > compatibility

DX9 is already installed as it is a part of Vista.

    DO install the following hotfixes:

    Compatibility fixes - KB938194
    Memory - KB940105
    Performance - KB938979
    Stability - KB941649

I'd also run the DirectX update from at least August.
(there's an October 24th one too)

I am not sure if that will solve the problem with Manhunt specifically, but it should help in general.

I'd ask on a Manhunt-specific board for more specific fixes.

Thanks for the tips. Where can I go to get the specific hotfixes I need? How will I know when they update?

The hotfixes I listed are not going to come down with normal updates.

These are likely to be included in SP1 when it ships, but for now, must be downloaded directly from microsoft's site.
(search using the KB or KnowledgeBase number)

The directX updates are available via microsoft's site as well.

You are right, the kb's hotfixes didn't work. Did u update ur nvidia driver? Go to www.laptopvideo2go.com to take the latest driver and search on the forum how u should do it.
