Does the X205-S9349 burn DUAL LAYERE DVDR's or not? Because, I tried using Windows DVD maker (which came with vista) and have gotten APPCRASH every time, no solution when I check online.. and since you can't turn DEP off for this program I then moved on to Ulead DVD creator which came pre-installed on the laptop. During the last stages of completetion I get a BURN PROCESS FAILED error.. so.. on to Nero which I have been using for years with my old satellite I use to have. And the same with Nero towards the final stages of completion I get that error BURN PROCESS FAILED.. I have used Nero 7 (for vista) and Nero 8 both of which give me the same error message. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I over looked somewhere, or can the X205-S9349 just not burn DUAL LAYER DVDR's? Any help on this matter is appreciated i'm at my wits end.

AFAIK, X209 should burn DL, did you check to see if there's a new driver? Try a different DVD? What's the size of file that you're trying to burn? And dumb question, these are DL DVDs?

Yeah they are Dual layer dvd's i've used other types of dvd's and they worked fine.. that's why I was wondering if it just couldn't burn dual layer..there is enough room on the blank dvd for what i'm wanting to put on it that's definetely not an issue.. one movie is 1H and 28M, the other, 1H and 26M. The dvd can hold up to 240 minutes in extended play. Which I had went in to Nero and changed it to compress to extended play so it would have more than enough room..i'm using Verbatim DVD+R's DL which are pretty good so.. I really don't know maybe it's a codec problem???.. I'm thinking of just re-storing it to factory settings.. lame.

You might want to try Roxio or Nero, I am not sure if you can burn dual layer dvd's using windows dvd maker.

dajackamo - did you ever get this problem resolved?

Here it is nearly a year later, and I'm having the same problem...cannot burn DL disks with my X205-S9349...even after applying Toshiba's "fix"! Yours is the only discussion I can find on the net.

I'm pretty sure that the problem definitely resides with the Toshiba burner itself, as I successfully burned - using an external LG DL burner hooked to the laptop -the exact same ISO image, using the exact same burn utility ("TOSHIBA Disk Creator") as I tried when using the laptop's burner.

    Much thanks in advance?
