I'm considering purchasing an X205-SLI6 to replace my 9349.........I'm in Iraq currently so I need to get this right the first time.

My questions are...........is it possible to upgrade the CPU and NVIDIA graphics card on the 9349?

If so, what are the best upgrades I can make to it?

I've already upgraded to 4gb (3 shown, thanks Vista) of memory already.

Thanks for any advice you guys give!!

Ok, so with a little research (and assuming I read everything right) It appears as though I can upgrade the CPU to a T9300. I used a program I found called PC Wizard 2008 to get the socket specs on the current board. It would also appear as though I can upgrade to an 8800M series video card however I can't seem to find them listed for sale anywhere.

Am I way off base here?

You can upgrade the CPU to the T9300 as you already notice, but you cannot upgrade the Graphic Card...

    Actually...

The CPU has a standard socket so it can be replaced with anything the BIOS supports and will fit in the socket.

Because Toshiba ships laptops with the newer processors in them then the BIOS will support it provided you get the newest version and flash it.
People have already put the new chips in, so it does work, it just takes a steady hand and some good organizational skills.

The GPU is actually on a replaceable board.... but it is proprietary.

Thus finding a part which will go in there is difficult outside of the Toshiba channels. Frankly, there isn't much point in replacing the 8700m unless you could get an 8800m GTS or better in there.

Theoretically, it might be possible IF toshiba ships an 8800 model of the x205. (using the same case and power setup) however, that hasn't happened yet. No one has tried to replace the 8700m with an SLI 8600 to my knowledge.

I'd bet the x205 case CAN cool and power an 8800m GTS... the problem is the Video BIOS is part of the main BIOS as well. Once again, if toshiba ships an 8800m version of the x205... then who knows...

For NOW upgrading the GPU is not really practical... and an 8800m is impossible... if they ship an x205 with an 8800m? who knows...

Thanks for the info guys.......I ordered the 9300, Windows 64bit and a couple of 120gb 7200 rpm HDD (SATA 2.5in) and will go from there.

I have already downloaded the newest 64bit BIOS for the X-205 series and have it ready to flash when I do the upgrade. My question now is, do I need to Flash it BEFORE I install the new processor or do I want to install the processor and new drives, load the new Windows system and then flash it?

Also, I see that some of the 8700M cards that are on the market have 512MB of ram on them, since I can't upgrade to an 8800m, is it possible to upgrade the video card I have to 512 from 256?
