Here ya go, here's what I got when I was playing around with it a little while back. Stock X205-SLi1, recently upgraded to 4GB ram, but that was after these tests were run. You're running the X7800 or something like that right? Note, these are run at 1280x854 res, which is what 3DMark06 defaulted to on this system, as the "normal" stock res is 1280x1024, which would lower my scores a bit, but would also require an external monitor, which I don't use.

    Enjoy:

Well, I am not sure if it's because I am running XP or what but attached is my score with the same settings as Chosin (625/1250/800), but my score is 2000+ less than him???

    :(

What!!!!, I just noticed your cpu is 2.6Ghz which processor is that?? (T7800 or X7800??) so that's why your score was higher. HUH!!! LOL!!

Yeah, I thought I had remembered he was the guy posting questions on trying to get a X7800 working, mentioned something about smoking part of his board or something, but guess he got it.... Good job ha! So, you ran a 9000 as well? I'll have to investigate what setting you guys are using, see where a SLi1 with stock cpu would compare

Oh wait, i reread your post after I looked at your results jesse... did ya mean that you got 2000 less that him instead of 200? I was trying to figure out how you got 9000, but your 7606 seems much more where I was thinking it would be...

Still not sure how he got over 9000 though, even running at 2.6, as yours at 2.4 isn't much faster than my 2.0 ran it, I don't think 3DMark06 gives more than a few hundred points for each step up in CPU power.... He must have some tricks up his sleeve.... i'm impressed

Here's the best I've posted at my most stable settings, the settings I run all of the time. I have gotten higher clocks, but don't trust it. Anyway, score is with the T7250 processor and at 1280x800. I'm sure my sys would never see 9000  But I am running the "default" benchmark.

Ha, I hear ya chosin... I actually just came from a Sager 4780, it was decent, ran RIDICULOUSLY hot, was never overly impressed with the build quality, but up until it quit booting and I bought my Sli1, it did pretty good. Still sitting here in pieces beside me in fact. Good luck with your mods, curious what you're working on, especially to get that kind of number in 3DMark06. What res was that at by the way? Thanks

Check it, because your display's max res is 1440x900(impossible to display anything higher without an external monitor), so it must be defaulting to 1280x800 or so like mine.

I have a stock x205-sli3 andam wondering how you were able to use all these other drivers? When I try to use Nvidia updates I am told to use drivers from my manufacturer, and they are dated from back in 9/17.

We use drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com also on the web site they provide a modified inf file that allows the drivers to work with the video cards in our laptops.

No it is not normal for the site to be down this long, but when the site comes back up I have attached the inf and cat files that I have already modified for you to work with the 169.09 and 169.12 vista drivers, so all you need to do is copy the 2 files to the folder were you extract the drivers to and it should allow you to install the drivers with no problems. Good Luck!!!

Yeah, that's actually the first time I've ever seen it down... it's usually updated very often, and downloads go quickly.... but, it is a GREAT source for drivers for our laptops

Did you notice I found and added the modified inf and cat files for the 169.09 drivers as well this way you can use the driver version that works best with your laptop. Oh if you go to Nvidia's slizone web page you may be able to find the 169.09 drivers as well and with the modified files those driver may work as well and it may be worth trying them out and see. I found the 169.12 drivers here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_169.12.html

Ok, I downloaded everything. I will run the 169.12 and then copy the modified files you put up and try! Awesome, thank you.

EDIT: Prior to installing the driver I just downloaded from Nvidia using your modded files, I decided to run 3Dmark on my system "stock" using default configuration of 3DMark. Score is: 6534

Question: Are you saying that if I download the 169.12 file directly from Nvidia, then copy the 2 files from inside the 169.12 zipped file you posted into the extracted Nvidia folder, that I can then run setup there and it should work? ( Just tried it and still getting error message, so must have to wait to get the right setup program from laptopvideo2go)

After rereading everthing, it seems it would be good to copy those files over before I ever install the 169.12 driver, or I'll have to reinstall after mod the files. Thanks for the heads up and saving me some time. Hopefull the website will be up soon so I can see how I fare.

You should have gotten a message to see if you want to overwrite the original inf file if you did not, make sure you are copying them to the correct folder if not just wait till laptopvide2go web site is up again. I am not sure if I can upload the drivers to rapidshare.com but I may try that so you can get the drivers that way.

Update: Here is a link to repidshare were I uploaded the drivers to which also have the modified Toshiba inf and cat files included already:

Well guys my search is still going on. I am working on cracking the bios ro either upgrade to another venders, or modify mine. Also working on a cooling better cooling solution. working with bios is a M/F'er I am making little progress. If i go with another bios it might be from Dell 1730 or asus G2. Which both allow overclocking. any suggestions to roll my way.

That sounds about right for stock settings, mine with the T7700 cpu and 625/1250/800 oc on the gpu's gives me about 7606 score.

Well after having taken mine apart and looking at the cooling solution, I am not sure if we can get a better/bigger heatsink in there, maybe if the heatsink was made entirely of copper and if the fan was higher speed maybe it would cool better but there is not much room left with the 2 video cards but the cards could use better cooling for sure!. Tweaking the bios, well that is an area I have no expertise in so I will not even try going there, but Good Luck and hopefully you won't kill the motherboard. :D

As far as cooling, actually trying out a Zalman cooler that was highly recommended that i picked up yesterday... honestly though, doesn't seem to help a whole lot.... trying it both with and without the cpu intake covered, and it still runs the gpu's cooler with the cpu intake covered. Not really a lot cooler though, was hoping for more... so, thinking I'm gonna take this one back (All the feet won't fit, but it's a close enough fit to work) and just build my own out of either a sheet of plexiglass or a sheet of aluminum with fans mounted directly on the intakes blowing in. I'll keep you guys updated if that even makes much difference, but currently with about a 600/1200/900 overclock and looping 3dmark06 the hotter gpu is running in the mid 80'sC, which I would like to get a bit cooler if possible, atleast for when I'm sitting at my desk running a decent overclock.

Good luck with the Bios mods though, as jesse said, that's beyond what I'll be able to help you with... have fun though, and good to see you're atleast making some progress.

    nice scores

i still wish i bought the x205 instead of the 5791. just like you be77solo i am very unimpressed by the sager build quality and i would not have ever though this by all the rave reviews they recieve, they are made cheap imo. and mine runs pretty hot not to bad though. the only other system i had considered was the x205 and honestly i regret not getting it now..

Yeah, I was suprised by that as well when I bought mine based on all the people that absolutely love them ... I love the idea of what the Sager is, being able to get just about any configuration you could possibly want, but just wasn't ever quite happy with it... The performance was good, but the lid is cracked at both hinges (and I hardly ever moved the thing from my desk), had the hard drive go out, and had to replace a ram module early on. Once I got those fixed mine did good for about 2 years and I was fine with it, but then it decided to stop booting, and from swapping everything in it, all I can determine is it's something on the motherboard that had failed, and it just wasn't worth the cost to fix. I honestly think most of my problems (well, except for the case cracking) were from heat, as it was one of the first to have a desktop pentium 4 in it running at 3.2ghz along with the then new ATI 9600 Mobility. You could hardly touch the plastic on the keyboard where your wrist would rest while typing after playing anything hardware intensive for a while... I guess it just finally fried something. I don't really regret buying it, and I do hear great things about them, but my experience did prevent me from buying another one. That is the good thing about laptops though I guess, won't be stuck with one for TOO long ha ;)

And the Toshiba's not perfect by any means either, but so far the build quality hasn't disappointed.

why does everyone put such emphasis on these virtual figures when what really counts is real world gaming performance???

who give a whooot what 3dmark says if the rig does what it is supposed to do.

this has puzzled me since my first radeon 7000 card........

I like them because it's a decent way for me to see if something I did helped or hurt performance, and compare to what someone else is trying... 3dmark is far from perfect, but it is something that i can run, you can run, and the guy on the other side of the planet can run, and while it is slightly flawed it's atleast a comparable way to see how this compares with that... in games, it's hard to exactly duplicate all the settings and exactly what you are doing unless it's a set timed benchmark or something.... 3dmark is just simply one example that's easy to replicate.... and in reality, I have found *usually* but not always that if i find something that bumps these scores a good bit, I'll notice an improvement in the games I play... from a pure casual gamer's standpoint it's pointless, but as a hobby of havin just about as much fun tweaking and changing settings as actually playing, I enjoy seeing how stuff compares.

Like my motorcycle... doing dyno runs is pretty much pointless and won't necessarily show how it will ride on the street in day to day performance, but that doesn't stop enthusiasts and every test you'll ever read about a bike not to include or talk about them.... I look at 3dmark06 as basicly a dyno for my computer, just like when I change something on one of my motorcycles, a dyno is only the really good way to see if it even made a difference.

just my $.02 on the topic

Evenin'! I was on the boards this morning, saw the reviews and went to best buy and picked up a x205-sli1.Now I'm at work while my machine is at home downloading a few games that I need to install.

    QUESTION:
    1) Did someone get the same unit but just with a 2.4 proc? or was that after market upgrading?
    2) I've seen a LOT of people with this machine listed as their gaming unit, can it pull off something like Crysis full spec?
    3) Any recommended adjustments to the unit?

It's set me back a good 2k$ but if it's as great a machine as it's draw out to be I'll definitely keep it.

Ok, so if I pick up a T7700 and drop it into the X205-SLI1 will I require better cooling for this machine? or can the stock build handle it?

There is truly no way to express my gratitude to everyone on this thread for the help on the X205-SLI1. After downloading the drivers and updates I was able to run Timeshift at full graphics without a hitch. This machine is amazing and handles perfectly. I can't wait to get Crysis and Call of Duty 4 on it!

Thanks! I'll try to get a 3dmark test later tonight, after work.

Nice score Jesse! Really appreciate all the help that you and others offered me. I've got the 169.09 drivers working and so far no problems. Need to run a benchmark and I'll post that up here when I can.
