I am running a bone stock X205-SLI1. After recovering from sleep mode, top 4 harman/kardon speakers are not functional. Subwoofer is still active, and after opening the Sound Control Panel, the test "ding" is still audible through the speakers, yet all other applications only utilize the subwoofer until I restart. I've tried reinstalling drivers, installing most up to date drivers/patches, etc.., to no avail. Please help!

Wassup dood...this also happens to me, but I noticed that it only happens when I put my laptop to sleep in balance or power saver mode. But in high performance, it hasn't done so yet. That's my 2 cents and I don't have an actual answer to why it happens. Hope somebody else does.

counter struck " are you mocking me?" =P Dude I posted this same problem and I think you were one on the posters who replied with a solution. I don't know now, I'm not sure if it was you, but yeah, I have this same issue and it sucks big time. I think littledonny said to go to control panel>sounds> and click the middle tab, I tried that and nothing works. I'm comforted though that I'm not the only one having this issue with my x205 sli1. Hope someone comes up with a solution.

it was you! lol just got on the site again and noticed my post went through it and surely enough counterstruck. Now I see that you found this glitch on your sli1 also, I'm thinking does all the x205 sli1's have this prob?

Thanks littledonny, problem solved, but I still can't help but wonder what the problem was in the first place.. It is still a (very) slight inconvenience to have to do that every time I bring my computer out of sleep mode..

Well I have the 9349 and it just started doing that after I reinstalled Vista. Actually, I reinstalled twice now and the first time I just recovered, and the second I did the long and slow format then reinstall. That's when the problems started. I don't put it in sleep mode though, I use hibernate. It starting to bug the crap out of me.
Has anyone played with the different settings for sound quality to see if they have something to do with this? -
This may be an iTunes issue. Mine is fine until I run itunes, then the muting occurs after sleep.
-
Actually this an Itunes issue and can be easily fixed by restarting Itunes. This only happens when you go into sleep mode with Itunes still running in the background. When you put your computer to sleep, make sure Itunes is not running and when you wake it, the sound is going to be fine.
I wouldn't hold my breath for Apple or Toshiba to come up with a fix regarding this issue. -
I have this issue as well and don't use i-tunes; it happens with windows media player with me. I will try the fix with the recording tab and see if that works next time. Also, my laptop freezes up when I'm doing random things, not usually when I'm playing a game (thats when you think it would happen) it just when i'm surfing the net or listening to music. Has anyone else experineced this problem? I'm up to about a freeze-a-day sometimes two, If anyone else has the same problem let me know and we'll try and figure it all out!

My Toshiba Satellite x205 SLI-1 awakens from both hibernation and sleep with only the subwoofer active. No sound comes from the main speakers. This started when I added
The thread brings it all into perspective, but I didn't know I already had the answers until I got here today. My experience confirms the following:
- The use of any specific audio and music program is not relevant. The issue occurs with a clean OS install from factory discs awakening after a session in which no audio or music programs were used (checking email).
- This occurs only in non-High Performance power configurations. My audio worked flawlessly for seven months under 100% High Performance settings. Changes in this 100% High configuration (for battery life experiments) started the wakening problem with a 1:1 correlation.
- Changing settings in the Sound control panel can restore speaker use without reboot. If changing to the recording tab doesn't fix it for you, try (1) Sound > Properties button > Advanced tab. (2) Change the pull down menu to any different value > OK.
- Rebooting always restores normal speaker operation.
