    Hi guys,

I've got a customers X205-SLi1 laptop here, where Vista did a silly thing of booting to a black screen with cursor only. After days of trying everything under the sun it was a format and re-install job. Problem is the customer didn't have any recovery media at all (was purchased 2nd hand without it I think, we are in Australia and I think this is a US only model).

Now I've managed to wrangle Vista Home Prem back onto it, downloaded and installed all the drivers ok except for Bluetooth which downloaded from the Toshi website the bluetooth stack doesn't install. Comes up with a blank error saying 1155: and nothing else.

Also the touchpad driver works, but there doesn't seem to be a Toshiba program active to run the shortcut buttons on the touchpad and it doesn't light up etc. Any ideas on these two?

Oh and in device manager there's still an Unknown Device and Mass Storage Device not installed, I'm guessing the unknown is Bluetooth but I don't see anything else under the driver downloads list that would address the Mass storage device? Chipset driver is installed.

    Cheers :)

    Ahhh I've had partial success!

I had ghosted the old HDD data off incase any data was needed, and as I plugged it in I noticed it had an old install file for bluetooth which actually installed it this time so that's done. And with the touchpad, whatever I installed HAD worked I just needed to tap the top right to activate the shortcuts

So really its only the Mass storage device now if anyone has any ideas...

You might be able to help still though, if you can go to device manager and expand as much of the stuff in there as you can and take a screenshot it would help narrow down what the Mass storage controller is actually for (as I'd just look out for the missing bit on mine) :)

Let me know if you need talking through it :)

it's the card reader on the front of the machine. You can get the cardreader drivers from Toshiba's site.

the Bluetooth and synaptics touchpad drivers from Toshiba should also work for you. I did a clean install of Vista, and everything went together very easily, and it performs much better than the OEM Toshiba install.

I'm not to sure if it is the card reader, as the SD reader software from Toshiba is install including there utility and it comes up in device manager as such

That's fine for now, the laptop is at work anyway and I won't see it again until Monday :)

I'll double check its not the card reader or something. Other than that its all working anyway, it was already a pain in the bum to fix...

Here's a pic of the device manager if anyone can spot anything missing that the Mass Storage Controller might be:

    Yorky,
I was having the same problem with the Mass Storage Controller under Device Manager showing up not installed. I discovered that it was the "Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller". Hopes this helps.

Ok thanks, I've given it back to my customer to see if it effects them or not without it (they barely use the laptop for much anyway...)
