Now that Service Pack 3, RC2 is available from Microsoft, and HD-DVD is officially dead, I'm going to re-install XP Pro on my machine. I did a lot of experimenting tring to get the HD-DVD drive to play movies, and feel that I've got a lot of junk on my machine.
If anybody needs any of the XP drivers, I still have them all. Just for refreshers, I streamlined the SATA drivers, the network and chipset drivers, as well as the KB888111 update (which allows the HD audio bus to work) all into my XP Pro disc, then I install everything else afterwords. Hopefully I'll have a fresh copy of windows on the machine by early next week.

I just upgraded to xp on the second hard drive of my new SLi4. After streamlining in the SATA driver, all I ended up needing was the 167.58 vid driver from this site and the Intel Pro Wireless for XP driver to get me online. The rest of the drivers came right off the DVDs that came with the computer.
Rebuilding the bootloader was interesting. Didn't have .NET Framework 2.0 installed and VistaBootPro wouldn't install. Luckily I had the redistributable, though. That Rebuilt the bootloader for my Vista drive which allowed me to run EasyBCD there and rebuild the whole thing for dual boot. -
I slip streamed sp3 into my XP install CD and tried installing this on my sli1 laptop and also my desktop system and it would keep telling me the CD Key was incorrect, then I slip streamed sp2 back in and XP installed fine, now was really strange.

I'm sort of interested in moving to XP, but I've never installed an OS. I don't want to Dual-Boot, but I've heard some problems arising when trying to just putting XP in. Having ALL the drivers was another big obsticle. About that zipped drivers folder.
1-That's ALL of them, nividia, HDD, realtek audio, etc ,etc ,everything else I'm not even aware of, etc?
2-Will all those drivers work on an SLi1? [I think the HDDs on the SLi3 are bigger and I know the CPU is faster, but I don't know if that matters, or if there are other differences that matter.
3-With a minimal amount of things going wrong, how long would it take to completely install XP and the drivers? -
I can only speak for my Sli3, but the drivers are pretty complete. Anything that isn't there can be gotten directly from Toshiba (ie the Vista versions work in XP).
I tried slipstreaming SP3 in, but then KB888111 wouldn't work for me. So I just slipstreamed the KB888111, then run SP3RC2 AFTER getting everything working. -

Edit: Actually, I'm pretty sure I comprehend most of that, but I need to get all my ducks in a row before I switchout operating systems as this is my only PC. Or when I get my Desktop, THEN I won't mind this becoming a project where it is down for a few days.
