    Hi,

Picked up a X205-S9349 at BestBuy this evening and will post more information in the morning. First impressions though are very favorable.

    Pros:

    Screen contrast is very good
    Speakers are great
Vents on both sides of case allow top and bottom to stay cool
Solid performance (Just an impression at this point)
Lots of drive space (C drive had 95 of 111GB free and D drive was completely free at 111 GB)

    Cons:

    Weight (just under 10 pounds)
Comes pre-loaded with a bit of crapware

Windows is reporting a base Experience index on 4.8 with that being the score for both Processor and memory. Primary Hard Disk scored a 4.9, Graphics a 5.9 and Gaming Graphics 5.9.

If someone call tell me where to get some of the benchmarks tools, I will run and post back the results.

Also did a as check on the battery while installing software so there was quite a bit of disk activity, some optical and a few reboots. I kept the Vista power plan on balanced for the entire test. The battery lasted just a hair under 2 hours - 1 hour 56 minutes.

What are the specifications of this model? What resolution and graphics settings did you run 3DMark06 on?

Thank you very much. Is it possible for you to run 3DMark06 once more with the exact same settings except a 1280x1024 resolution? That's the default.

I'm planning to get the X205-S9359 instead of the X205-S9349. Everything is the same except the S9359 has:

    Processor: Core™2 Duo T7100 2.0GHz Front Side Bus: 800MHz
    Operating System: Windows Ultimate
    Graphics memory: 767MB total: 512MB DDR3 discrete memory + up to 255MB shared memory w/NVIDIA® TurboCache™ technology
    Hard Drive Size: 320GB: 160GB HDD+160GB HDD
Toshiba TV Tuner: TOSHIBA USB HDTV Tuner (External)

Will this affect the benchmarks dramatically?

I could only set the resolution to 1280 X 800 as there was no seletion for 1280 X 1024. If there is some other way to set it then please let me know.

Could you please run it at 1440x900 then? The number of pixels at that resolution is almost the same as 1280x1024, which is the default.

I believe with the free version you only get the one resolution to test with.

That's disappointing news for the 8700M. With a T7500, that would translate to a score of ~4600 but in itself, this means nothing unless the 8600M GT, 8700M GT and Go 7950GTX are benchmarked side by side with a series of real game situations.

 That's so lame. I guess if you subtract the premium price of the HD-DVD player, then it's on par with notebooks of its price. T7300 and 8700M GT 512mb on the higher model will make a large difference.

Hey, I've been a PC user for all my life. Last laptop was a Toshiba M60 BK-3. It was pretty damn good xcept dead pixels and mobo just died [turns on but nothing on screen and dvd drive keeps trying to read :S]

Nyway my question is would you suggest this laptop, in terms of weight and price and 8600M vs 8700M... vs. say the new Macs? Graphics are semi important cuz I'm gonna b using for next 4 years and I was waiting since May for these 8 series hoping i could have got sumthing good u know?
