OK, long story short I'm looking for a really good Gaming Laptop to replace my two year old Sony Vaio (GO 7400 with 128 MB just isn't enough for games). I'm almost made of my mind to go with the X305-Q706 Machine, good reviews. So with me going to be ordering in a few weeks still doing a little more research, today I notice that the X305-Q725 has been released for about $600 more. Now a few questions. First I noticed the Q706 has the 9800 GTS 512 MB SLI to equal a GIG RAM compared to the new Q725 which has the GTX with one GIG total RAM without SLI. Is there going to be a really big difference between the two. Second question, the new model comes with a Quad Core Proc at 2.0 GHz, with the 706 with the three VC's (9800 GTS SLI + the Nvidia GeForce 9400M). I'm a gamer and Always plugged in so the power savor mode is useless for me. Is the 2.0 greater then the 2.26 that the older 706 has since it uses Quad Core compared to the Dual Core. Last question, is SSD really that much fast. I really want two drives but I've read mixed reviews on SSD drives. I like the 320 7200RPM hard and want to another one, but if the 64 SSD is faster then it may work out for what I'm looking for.
Thanks,
Derek.

Well for your first question in 3dmark (and possibly other benchmarks) the 9800m gts sli will be a bit faster, but in actual game performance the gtx is better.
Yes a 2ghz c2q is better than a 2.26 c2d, not by much though (for gaming) especially as the limiting factor is the videocard nowadays and no applications make use of all cores. If i were you i would go for the 3.06ghz c2d (if you can afford it its best for gaming).
SSD is fast, but definately not worth the money + its a new technology and engineers still need to perfect it (hence the bad reviews). If you want top hdd performance go for the wd Velociraptor - I did and it made a massive difference. -

The SLI GTS will beat the single GTX handily in games as well as benchmarks. For $2k it is a good buy
For ~$2500 I suggest this, though I'm not sure how much better than the Q706 it is.

I'm seriously looking at it myself. My build of choice is the T9800 2.93GHz, CF Mobility 3870/4GB 1066 DDR3/320GB 7200rpm HDD/Vista64
I'm just not sure if I should wait for mobile 4xxx series cause of what the cost to CF them might be.
