I just got back from Best Buy, and they just put the Qosmio X305 on display and holy hell what a laptop! Some may think it to be a bit gaudy, but to me that thing looks sweet! I'm really interested to see how people like it.

Interesting... did you get a look at the specs? Is it already using new montevina processors or current penryn ones?

The one they had out was on the Montevina, I asked. :) I'm not so sure they were supposed to have it out on display yet. I'm heading back there in a few, so ill try to get more info on it.

The label on the laptop says 4GB DDR3 whereas the Best Buy label says 4GB DDR2. Which one is accurate? Also, anyone know anything about the P7350? Even though it has a WXGA+ screen, that price point is definitely attractive - I wonder how much upgrades will cost when you configure the laptop on Toshiba's website!

Awesome. Is it on sale yet? and do they also have the F50 for sale?

The label is most likely correct. Best Buy couldn't get product specs right to save their own lives. And I agree, that price is very attractive.

ady: They have none in stock just yet and I didnt see any f50s.

I'd trust what it says on the laptop more than I would on the BB tag. I'd also assume it's DDR3 since Montevina is released tomorrow and that officially supports DDR3.

The P7350 looks to be a currently unlisted processor. Based on the nature of the notebook, I'd look for a clock speed around 2.5GHz. Also, it should be a 25W part since we're now into the refresh.

I wish I was in the market for a notebook now, even if it looks (to me) fugly.

looks like a good deal especially if it's using ddr3 ram but the processor seems underpowered...

Perhaps the P7350 is a 45nm, 25W TDP version of the T7250? The P definitely signifies a lower TDP so this might be a 2GHz, low L2 cache, entry-level Penryn for Montevina. Bad choice considering everything else they put into the machine.

Hey maybe Best Buy even got the price tag wrong. :p

Lol, from what i understand it's a 2ghz processor with 3mb l2 cache. It might have 1066mhz fsb seeing it's montevina but i'm not sure. I guess it's understandable to use this processor in order to keep the price down but still... a pretty questionable choice.

Might be a bit on the low side, but for gaming it shouldn't be a problem except for games like Supreme Commander.

Gateway does the same thing with the 68xx series. However, the gfx card more than makes up for it(believe it or not the stock T5500 processor at 1.83ghz is really not that bad!), so hopefully the 9700gts will do the same for the x305 line.

I think so too... this one is obviously a lower end config. A higher end config will probably use an c2 extreme processor and maybe sli 9800m gtx video cards and so on.

yeah I think this one would be the equivalent of the x205 with the single 8700 nvidia card. Then you'll have the x305 sli1 and 3 models, similar to the x205sli1 and 3. Well at least that's what I think and the price ain't as bad as I thought it would be.

The DDR3 RAM and possibly fast processor make me envious of the X305 versus my Gateway. But - the Gateway has the 8800GTS - hopefully the T9300's will drop on NewEgg later this month so I can upgrade mine. Still - good info and fairly good photos - Thanks Dook.

How is the 9700 GTS suppose to perform compared to the 8800 GTS?

Pretty sure the X305 is a single GPU model.

Can't wait for information on how the 9700M performs.

I dont think the processor is a problem, most games are heavily limited by their graphics cards anyway.. only games that require a lot of computation from the processor should have problems.. and those are rare

I love the ports and the layout of the computer. I also love the way the inside looks. I'd pick this over an Alienware easily, but the high end Sager is going to destroy this computer. The X305 fully customized will still run at about half the price of the fully customized Sager and Alienware, which is a good thing. I don't have $6000 to drop immediately on a computer

i believe the 8800 would be stronger, as it is built on a completely different architechture than the 9700.

i wonder why the toshiba site said "available september", maybe they want to display this model in hopes people will wait that long? or maybe they'll release the 9800m gtx in september, which is why it'l retail at 3500$ lol

and one last thing, does it come in black? :D

... Fully customized Sagers don't usually go up to $6000, unless you're thinking SLI GPUs with desktop CPUs coupled with overpriced resellers. Since the X305 is a single GPU, it's possible that the single GPU Sager 5796 will be priced below it.

The article mentioned that the F55 includes DDR2 ram. Will the computer support DDR3 ram if a user upgraded the ram to DDR3 at a later date? I am in the market for a 15" laptop and the 9700 gts in the F55 looks nice and is in my budget range.

I was referring to the 9262, that can be fully loaded with quadcore and SLI. The beast can very easily end up in the $5000-$6000 range.

I would still much rather get the Toshiba X305, but the processor is very unimpressive. Which route do you guys think I should go?

My guess is XoticPC.com, atleast the price seems comparable.

    edit: built a fairly maxxed out 9262 on xoticpc.com which came to $3,664;

Does anyone know which CPU socket type (e.g, Socket P or FCBGA) is being used by the x305? Can I pop a T9300 (Socket P) into this machine?

Actually, yes you can.. The Montevenia is a Socket P, so you can put the T9300, the only thing is that the stock T9300 is 800MHz FSB, so unless you have tweaking options on the BIOS, you will not hit the 1066FSB.

Guys, I was at E3 on Tuesday and they had the X305 with the 9800GTX and a T9400 (2.53Ghz)

    A) Why isn't it available
    B) Why isn't it the 3 GHz as originally advertised?

I called Toshiba today. They had no information to offer about other configurations and stronger processors. I was not happy
