Guys, do any of you actually know or read Intel's announce dates? Toshiba cannot ship something that Intel has not released... the 3GHz is not released yet..
Don't believe me? Just go to Intel's site and see for yourself.. Also if you don't read Intel's announcements, chances are no one noticed the NVIDIA announcement that there were quality issues with their chips, and that has delayed the launch of a lot of new platforms.
Please, dont ask stupid questions, and say why to the manufacturer, when the components themselves are the problem.... -
No I don't read Intel's information. That's not on my list of priorities. Secondly, its not a stupid question to want to know why the Extreme processor isn't available. Thirdly, its perfectly appropriate to ask the manufacturer why and request information. They could have easily said to me "that processor isn't released yet, you'll have to wait." Instead they just said "we can't help you." So you lose.

(they need time to ship them to resellers)
even mobile quad-core are released but as an engineering sample though! It runs superb... -

checking Bestbuy.com shows it in stock and on sale for $1399 instead of the original $1549. Just pulled the trigger. I've been looking for a laptop for a month now and this one at that price fits my bill. I like the design, the specs, and the color doesn't really matter to me. I'm gonna pick up on Monday when I go return the Gateway 6860 that I have coming in on Monday as well.
-
Nice! Way to catch a sale!!
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...=x305&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1212192365280
They have the higher-end Q702 as well.

yeah, I was just checking in store availability on both the X05 and F55 when I noticed they were both the same price. Seeing the price and being able to get a new lappy Monday sealed the deal for me. Can't wait!
-
I'll bet! I've been interested in this lappy since I saw it, so let us all know what you think of it when you get it!
-
So I went into Best Buy today, returned the 6860FX I ordered online and looked at the X305. After a thorough examination, the cons outweighed the pros and I decided to wait for the new Gateway 7811FX. I didn't like how much the screen flexed and the keyboard is such a fingerprint magnet. I also did not like the feel of the touchpad and I could not find a toggle switch for the touch pad which is inconvenient in my opinion. Those facts really turned me off to this laptop. I did like the design and the color scheme is alright in my book but the glossy fingerprint magnet keyboard really turned me off. Oh well, I'll be checking out and probably getting the Gateway 7811FX now.
Oh btw, the X305 has a Windows Index Score of 5.0 because of the processor. Everything else was 5.9. I really wanted to like this laptop, but after handling it, it just didn't do it for me. -
Well, as i understand when you'll be playing games and use WASD hand will be on speaker, this really pice me off...
-
So anyone have any idea when the high end version with the 9800M GTX 1GB will be shipped in the UK?
-
Ah anyone in the UK looking to buy the high end version of the x305 here it is for pre order
http://www.askdirect.co.uk/uview?call=ask.productBrowse&id=389&topcatid=17&make=Toshiba
X300-11W is the one -
What's the difference between the 300 and the 305?
Is this a reputable company? Never heard of them before. -
They are a big electronics store in the centre of london, I guess they are just calling the EU version x300, because the toshiba uk site lists it as x300 as well.
They are also listed on the toshiba site as a vendor for toshiba laptops -
And it looks like they send to Greece, though I have no idea for how much, guess I better call them tomorrow.
I have my eyes on the cheaper model, half the price for a 9700 is not bad.
Thank you very much for that link. -
-
Wow.
I mean. Wow. I used to think this notebook was dumb, but after seeing those camera phone pictures... it's incredible.
The "Lipstick Red" really shines on this notebook.
I'm wondering if the wife will let me buy one of these. Heck, maybe two, one for me and one for her! This notebook would be perfect for a man or a woman!
Wow. -
Could be a mistake since the laptop aint actually released yet
I just emailed them so ill let ya know, so as they get back to me -
I just picked this up yesterday from my local bestbuy. On sale for 1399.99, couldn't pass it up. Got it to replace my DV9500t, and god DAMN its sexy lol.
Will post pics/specs and what not when I get home from work, 1st thing i did last night was make the recovery disks/driver disk and used ABR to install a clean Vista Home Premium x64 on that sucker.
Been on the phone with Toshiba Tech support, Toshiba Sales, and Richard Computers (their distro). Noone has a 2nd HD Caddy for sale =( -
This laptop looks good on paper and photos but it really is a budget laptop with some hardware.
I got a chance to held it and looked at the laptop top and bottom and open it and play with it a bit..
The bottom pan is really cheap plastic, felt hollow and thick. While I don't really care about the glossy keyboard and touches, it is easy to clean. The speakers are the nicest part, 4 speaker system provides a pseudo surround sound system.
The screen surprisingly wasn't that great. It was slightly more blurrier the Gateway P-6831 they had next to it, also to mention.
The P-6831 is 17.1" vs 17.0" for those that care.
The bottom has 3 fan outlets. It looks like you can upgrade the CPU pretty easily and the memory. I looked at the memory bay, it looks like a lot of depth from the cover to the memory, not sure why there is so much room in the bay. Ventilation? Or just poor usage of space the bottom pan is unusually thick. What you end up with is the laptop appears a bit higher for the wrist than other 17" notebooks.
The battery appears to be a 6 cell model? 4000mah only, while the P-6831 is a 9 cell model. Quite possible the new Centrino 2 uses less power but would've been nice to have a 9 cell.
I thought it was an awesome laptop for the specs but I think it's better to wait for the next Gateway gaming laptop.
I give it a 3/5 star for it's value, a casual gaming notebook.. -
That sounds kind of lame. -
the 2nd drive bay is underneath the main. I took a look inside it, the secondary HD is connected face up (SATA on the left, power on the right) while the main HD is connected face down (SATA on the Right, Power on the Left).
Most manufacturers do not include a 2nd caddy if you don't have 2 HDs built in on order. I know from my HP experience that HP sells them to you separately. -
Ill be waiting for the high end version of the toshiba with the 9800m gtx and x9100 processor.
-
Here's some pics of mine, still playing around with it.
-
Nice, thanks for those, could you maybe put one up of the lid?
I wanna see the flames haha, the ones on websites are always 3d animated.
Does anyone know if the high end toshiba will support SLi grahpics for the 9800M GTX, or if it will be user upgradeable like the sager models did with single 8800M --> SLi -
The high end will not support sli graphics cards, the chassis are big, but not big enough to handle dual 9800m gtx's. The only thing you could do is upgrade a 9700m gts model to a 9800m gtx model, but you would be just swapping out the entire guts in each laptop.

X305. Omg!
