Hey all. Long time lurker, first time poster. My wife just bought me an x775-Q7380 for a present, after my Asus G73 took a hard fall off of a table. While I'm stoked for the new machine, it's got the i5 2430m processor while my G73 had a i7 2630. Now, I notice that the x775 does ship with an i7 2630 and I'm not shy about breaking into my gadgets if needed. I've got all the documents and vids I could ever need to break down my G73, but I can't find anything at all on the x775. Anyone have a guide on how to disassemble this thing? And is it safe to assume I can swap the CPU if I repaste it and all?

I think you should be able to swap CPUs, since the i5 and i7 versions all use the same BIOS [wouldn't be a BIOS limitation].

As for disassembly, I think you would be the first!

Wish I could be of more help. Good luck

Thanks for the answers. I should have my 775 on monday. I think I may give it a shot. I'll just take my time and document the crap out of it so I can post it up for everyone. I really like my i7.

I'm guessing it would be similar to my P750.
Take out the ram and HDD. Take out all of the screws at the bottom.

Pop out the keyboard, take out the screws under that. Also take out any wifi and tv tuner mini PCIe cards.

Disconnect all of the cables you can see.

Then the notebook should come apart.

I took apart my friend's dead machine and I'm fine with the machine as is. :p Probably just power through it until I upgrade. XD Too timid after the hell I went through to upgrade the CPU for the short time I did...
