I just installed an SSD in my Qosmio and came across some news bits regarding the HM65 rev B2 chipset motherboards being recalled. I understand that ports 0 and 1 are not affected but on the Qosmio the Blue Ray is on port 2. I just bought my Qosmio in August and it should have been WAY past getting any of the recalled chipset boards. However my system shows itself as having the B2 revision chips both with CPUID and with the command line check.

Would appreciate some wisdom from the peanut gallery here.

    regards

    Ken

Can't always trust the 3rd party apps on this issue; they have been shown to be wrong in the Alienware/ASUS forums.

For specifics on how to identify if it's B3 stepping might be better answered in the hardware subforum: Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades

I would assume it has the fixed chipset since the x775 model did not come out until 5-6 months AFTER the recall was initiated. Manufactures have stated any model-lines released after the recall will NOT be affected; only model lines that were released BEFORE Jan. 31st were affected.

    Good luck
