    I'm experiencing the same problem as hundreds, if not thousands of others have before me. I picked up a beautiful Toshiba A205-S5800 used laptop that has the horrific Windows Vista Home Edition OS pre-installed. :eek:

    After reading dozens of posts from people who have also wanted to downgrade to Windows XP, I gave it my best shot, and was able to successfully install the Windows XP Professional OS...

    HOWEVER:

    I was unable to obtain working XP drivers for the WLAN Adapter, Graphics Card, USB, or Display Adapter. None of the drivers from the Vista Restore Disc were compatible, and I couldn't find working XP drivers for the hardware on any of the Toshiba sites. Basically my Device Manager was filled with Yellow Question Marks.

    If you're one of the few (I know you're out there) who was able to successfully get this model working 100% with Windows XP, I would greatly appreciate some of your wisdom, before I sell this for a more XP-friendly laptop.

    :confused:

    Cheers,
    Matt

    Graphics card and display adapter are the same thing. You need to go to Intel.com and have it automatically search for your drivers. That should find 1-3 of them. You video/display adapter is the Intel GMA X3100.

    I can't thank you enough, tHE j0KER, the first link you posted cleaned up half of my Yellow Question marks in my Device Manager :notworthy:

    The correct driver for my Wi-Fi was still not found after installing various drivers from these and countless other links (even the exact RTL8187B driver from Realtek's site didn't work), but after another day of searching all over the internet I FINALLY found it on Toshiba's Australian site:

    Support :: Toshiba

    I'm happy to say my Toshiba A205-S5800 is running like a dream with Windows XP Professional. Thanks again!

    Also, are you sure your laptop has the Realtek wireless card?
