You will lose some features such as advanced networking capability, might be others features, so wait for others to reply and decide if you want those features.

Other than the extra features, the usability & performance of the system will be the same. Although if you have a stock Toshiba installed Win XP Home, then doing a clean install(Home or XP) will result in better performance.

Toshiba installs a lot of software and uninstalling it doesnt get rid of it complately and over time all of the remanants can slow your system down. It wont be day & night difference but still you will notice faster startup and general resonsivness with a fresh install.

If you want to do stuff like complex networking home isn't the best, but pro wont make a difference to your Toshiba's useability in day to day running. I've used both for years on one pc or another and I can't even tell you the differrence, really!

If it is lagging up tho, a fresh install (dont use the Toshiba recover disc!) of windows will help.

Drivers can be downloaded at the manufacturer's website. In your case, http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/clin.to?coid=-26368

go to computers.toshiba.co.uk. Go to the support and downloads tab at the top right and select download files. Input your notebook type and what drivers you want and it'll give you a download link. Stick em on a usb pen and then you can access them after your fresh install.

Did you set the correct keyboard settings when re-installing? Check for keyboard utilities on the toshiba site.

i didnt see any keyboard utilities... the clash seems between the "2" key top left and the "@" key next to enter....when pressing shift+2 it takes the "@" key, and vice versa when pressing the shift+@ (next to enter)....i remember my old desktop keyoard the "@" key used to be top left...mmmmmm

It would seem that your "Keyboard" settings in Windows Langusge settings are set to the wrong keyboard. You will find the Language settings in the Control Panel

Yes, one of the quirks of Windows is that it has an insane desire to revert to US English at any opportunity. Another quirk is that if you select UK Extended as your Keyboard, it keeps defaulting to WELSH as your Keyboard Language!
