am seriously starting to hate computers, I am scared to even go near one now. I know I didn't do anything wrong, at least I hope not. I was installing the Vista service pack and then it went to reboot. Bam a blue screen pops up and says something about turning off my computer to prevent damage. So I get on the phone with Toshiba tech and we try a couple different things. None of them work, so now my only option is to send in my laptop (thank God I am still under warranty). I don't want to do that just yet though because I don't really trust the tech. When I had the blue screen error on my Dell Desktop, one of you helped me fix it and it was a completely different method than what Dell's tech told me to do. Psh, they were going to make me buy like a $200 motherboard.

Anyways, I can't boot into safe mode because when it says loading windows files it stops at "\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.syc"... So I try to do a Toshiba System Restore but I get a pop-up that says

    "DMI.EXE - Application Error
The instruction at 0.77022591 referenced memory at 0x00004235. The memory could not be read.
Click on OK to terminate the program."

and then it makes me shut down....Is there any other options to try and fix this or do I absolutely need to send it in?

By the way, I haven't gotten that blue screen again yet so I can't tell you what it said...

I had problems trying to install Vista SP1 also (back when it was released). My computer wouldn't start properly, or something like that - I still haven't installed SP1.

Try googling the error code/the entire message. Often it will lead you to other forums of people who have the exact same problem. Good luck.

    Hi,

Did you manage to fix your problem?
I seem to be experiencing exactly the same issue.

I have the same laptop and had the exact same issue when installing the latest windows update. I had to take mine in and the hdd was corrupt. There was two other laptops just like mine in there for the exact same problem. I had to replace my hdd and I was 8 days out of warannty, ugh! It seems to be that new windows update that is doing it. Google it and you will see tons of people with the exact same problem. Better take it to a shop pretty soon because it is not something you can fix yourself. Best of luck.

I'm not for too sure but, I read somewhere that you needed to make sure all your drivers are up to date before installing SP1...I did that and SP1 installed fine on my A215...I would send it in while you still have warranty, let them deal with it.

Did your satellite come with restore disks, in some cases you get the option to restore start up files, it may have some effect :).

If not prehaps try a full format and i guess if not send it in for repair.
