I am still running the original BIOS version on my Z30. I thought it was time to update. But included in the instructions is: Power-on passwords must be disabled.

I switched to Don't require a password on startup in my power settings. But when i restarted, it still required my password!

    What am I missing?

You may be thinking of a "Login password" to log into windows, that is not the same as "startup password" that refers to a password you need to enter before the computer even loads windows, before you can even enter the BIOS.

Then I'm OK then? I'm running Win7, and i had this checked before under Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Power Options> Systems Settings::

    Require a password (recommended)
When your computer wakes from sleep, no one can acewss your data without entering the correct password to unlock the computer

Yet I never had to enter a password on startup, other than the Login pasword.
