Right, i thought i'd add this as a seperate discussion to the main Z830 thread but i have a serious chip/question on my shoulder here!!
i've been avidly reading pretty much anything i can get my hands on about all the first generation ultrabooks, from a wide range of sources and the one feeling from the 'professionals' as it were (i.e. those people/bloggers/reviewers etc) about the Z830 is that its the 'ugliest' and 'dullest' and one even said 'dated' design..............
now is it just me or is it by far one of the more attractive ultrabooks to date? the asus is too shiny, the acer is fat, the samsung collects fingerprints like a magnet and altho i will admit its the prettiest i have a feeling its going to age terribly and look very out of date very quickly and as for the HP, well its just frankly awful! their 25 series of elitebooks if far prettier!
in one comparison (engadget if i'm allowed to reference?!) they even figured the HP to be more attractive than the toshiba.......madness! i've never seen a more dull and lifeless design than the HP folio 13, its frankly shockingly bad!
now i realise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and also that when it boils down to it its not everything when it comes to choosing a computer!lol! however i feel the classic and timeless lines of the super svelt tosh are being unduly rubbished by a lot of 'reputable' reviewers etc and i feel i must defend its honour!
in my opinion its the slimmest, lightest and most connectable ultrabook on the market and happens to look damn classy doing it, now whos with me!!!!!
rant over![]()

The Z830 has a business-ish design. I personally like that and it seems you do too. That isn't what the reviewers are looking for. The reviewers a predominantly are Mac users and measure appearance using the meter stick. Similar comments come up when they review Thinkpads. It's rare that a non-Mac computer gets good comments about how nice it looks without a comment saying how much like a Mac it looks.
btw, lightest and most connected ultrabook isn't your opinion. Its fact.
