I inherited an M35X from my daughter and it has been serving my light needs fine for about 8 months.

A week ago the power adapter died so I ordered a new one.

In the meantime I tried out the power adapters from other laptops around the house, none of which would plug in.

BUT the power adapter from my Dymo label printer did plug in, so I tried it. This adapter outputs 24V at 1.75 amps. It worked perfectly. My old Toshiba ran on the power adapter just fine and charged up just fine.

Then last night, while plugged in, the Toshiba died. It will turn on for a couple of seconds, begin to power up, then shuts off. This is true whether or not it is plugged in.

I am fairly certain that it was at 50% charge just before it died. I check the battery indicator just before it died (coincidentally).

My belief is that the problem is the computer itself, not the power adapter. The power adapter still works perfectly on my label printer.

This old laptop probably isn't worth fixing but I don't really have the money to replace it right now.

Any thoughts or suggestions about things to check?

    Thanks.

EDIT: After sitting 24 hours, unplugged, it has come back to life. So I don't know what to think.
