i just built a laptop to see how the price comes out for the m100. and realized that the ram, harddrive, cpu and everything is expensive.... is it possible for me to pretty much just get this notebook with almost at base and just upgrade the ram, hd, and so on myself?? is it hard? will it ruin my warranty?what you guys think??

ram and hd, you will be fine. cpu upgrades will void your warranty. the m100 is just a customizable version of the m105.

It also should be noted that to get service for your notebook (if you plan on upgrading your components), you have to put back in your original Toshiba Hardware, or they won't service the notebook.

I upgraded to the 80GB hard drive on their site, and kept the minimum RAM config (add 1GB from Newegg for $90).

    Loving the machine so far!

Minor complaints: Funky keyboard arrangment (getting used to it, though), and the amount of Toshibaware that i have to wade through. The problem is that much of the Toshiba software is still useful, but it is hard to ditch just the stuff I dont' want. And I'd like to, because my new gig of RAM hasn't arrive yet, and all that extra bloatware is causing the 256MB RAM to chug :)

my gf's sunlight copper m100 just arrived last night. took me a while to get rid of all the bloatware. there's just wayyy to many toshiba apps on there. i also ordered the minimum ram config for her (256mb) and i'm gonna stick my leftover 512mb from my sony. ive read that the first slot is not accessible by the user...is this true? the computer runs VERY slow with 256mb.

    hello guys :)
some software is pretty good I think. this M100 is my second ever laptop and the first Toshiba one, so I'm quite amused by this computer as a hole... nevertheless I have already expanded the RAM to 1GB (bought one with 512@533) so the work is very comfortable...

nevertheless there are some things I can't go through, maybe you will help:

    1) how to observe the CPU temperature ?
    2) how to underclock the ATI graphic card ? :D
