hey all, i just wanted to know what you guys were getting on your satellite A200 notebooks, mines a horrible 1 hour and 40 mins under vista hp on balanced mod and minimum brightness
-
With mine I used to get about 2:15 - 2:30 on power saver w/ min brightness and wireless on. Now however I should get a little more since I upgraded my CPU to the more efficient T8300.
-
oh ok, yeah that seems fine but why do i get 1 hour and 40 mins on a six cell?
Toshibas are starting to suck because my moms fujitsu which costs around 500$ gives 2 hours and 40 mins of battery life
WHY ME?! , I've done everything, from tweaking power settings to battery saver to undervolting
btw, is there a 9 cell option for this range of toshibas?, if there is, I'm gonna run to the store today -
Well does it have a dedicated video card? If not, I can only assume that it's because the rest of the components are more powerful (better) but also consume more power. For example, take a P3 and compare it to a C2D now. The C2D blows away the P3 in performance but the P3 should win out in battery life just because it can't consume as much power (though it will take a long time to do almost anything on a P3).

well, it has a HD2600 256mb, same as yours but i have a T7100 1.8ghz cpu

Could be background programs causing the CPU to be unable to sleep. That or temps are high since vents/fans are clogged, check with HWMonitor. My T8300 idles at 48C->42C and GPU at 37C (both post AS5, though CPU value is slightly higher than reported by RMClock which I trust more). Then you could check out perfmon to see how much time your CPU is spending in each of the sleep states.

Lithium-ion cells only have a certain number of cycles in them. When they are dead they go offline and your battery no longer has the same capacity as when it was new. Look for a program called "mobile meter", it can tell you about your battery's "wear level", i.e. how much of the original capacity is gone and how much remains.

on hardware monitor, T7100 1.8Ghz Cpu = 49 C, HD2600 = 28 C, Samsung 250JI = 40 C
its all normal and i found out that this is the normal life for my battery, its a 4400mhw 6 cell battery, below average, i saw some options for some 9 cells, will check that out, thanks for all your help
