I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4094 laptop. The problem is if I use it plugged in to the AC adapter and I shut it down (and obviously plug out the AC adapter). After about 8-10 hours if I turn it on, the laptop battery is about 90% charged. Is is normally or is it anything wrong with my battery?

We had a discusion about this only about a week ago, and the general concensus amoung many people, was that the problem was limited to only Sony notebooks. But actually, it look slike this happens in many notebook,s its just that some are more pronounced than others. Thread link:

It is nothing to worry about really, and is mot probably normal. Unless, you can feel some discharg of any part of the notebook when it is off, then don't worry about it. Hope this helps.

Could you please explain this? What do you mean by discharge of a part of the notebook? I read that whole thread but it seems to me it's still weird, because if I use my laptop I can do a whole lot of stuff using 10% of my battery. What in the world it does when it's shut down to need so much battery? Thank you.

A discharge is a leakage of electrons. It is quite unlikely, however. A battery never stops producing a current, as the chmical reaction inside the battery is always going on. While the notebook may not be using any electricity, the battery still slowly discharges itself, dut to the fact that electrons are still moving aound in inside. This energy is dissapated as heat. You will not be able to detect this heat with your hand, however, as it is very low. Hope this helps.

Yeah... it makes a bit of sense to me, but I always hated physics (i guess that's how you spell it) and if we're talking about the electrons moving inside the battery, I don't want to know how this works... :) Thank you.

Last week I experienced a similar situation: I let my Tosh M115 charging about 5 hours before sleep, and remove from power.
Next day, soon I power up and log on, it indicates 95%.
The M115 battery (6 cell) isn’t that great, and to complete it lose 5% of power with computer off?
But looks more normal than I thought.
