1/16/2008 BIOS UPDATE (Windows Installation) Toshiba Windows Vista™ 1.90

this just came out, i am leery to update and want to know what changes they made, since 1.70 (upgrading to this killed my original main board (Thanks vista), thank god for warranty). is it something major that i should fix or just stay with 1.70?

toshiba really needs to put a little text notation as to what they keep fixing in these bios updates, i can download and update everything else ok, just bios should have a description for its updates since if it screws up there is no going back.

My belief is that they include Penryn support with this update.

PS. Your sig laptop pic needs some AA assistance.

Penryn is the code name for the next series of Intel processors.

cool however i thought you couldn't upgrade anything on a laptop other thAN system ram, so why would they add that support if the cpu cant be upgraded....?

It kinda depends on the system, for example, take a look at dells (or any other manufacturer), they offer the same laptop with different CPUs. Therefore, as long as you stay within power constraints, you can upgrade to any supported CPUs of that family. Also, what Intel usually does is make 2 types of sockets, since we run socket P I think, we could potentially upgrade to any future processor 30 years from now as long it:
    a) is socket P
    b) fits within thermal constraints
    c) manufacturer releases a new BIOS to support it (but this won't happen 30 years later, just to show the idea)
