Ok so I just purchased the satellite c655d-s5136 and need I help with the touchpad.

Bought it, turned it on, got to the windows set up screen.
On windows licensing agreement page (like first or second one) I clicked on the "I agree" box and was going down to the second I agree box and the touchpad froze.

I said ok whatever used tab and alt-a to fill it in and continue. The pad started working again on the next screen.I finish installing windows and updates(both toshiba and windows) without a problem and thought nothing of it.

I started browsing the web, the cursor started freezing every once in a while for 5-10 seconds and then jump to where your finger is.It felt as if the computer was locking up and then coming back, so to test that I plugged in a usb mouse.
When the cursor would "lock up" my mouse would work fine and the keyboard continued to work aswell. When it happened in sims 3 it would freeze then come back zooming in as if you used multitouch.

I uninstalled the synaptics drivers and reinstalled the latest ones off of toshibas website but the problem stayed.

I uninstalled the synaptics drivers again and let windows install a generic mouse driver. With the generic driver it will randomly go crazy flipping across the screen and clicking opening up right click menus and such.

Is my hardware bad or do you think its software related.
Ive read about updating bios so ill look into that tomorrow, any other advice?
Im thinking about taking it back for a return.

    I would take it back.

Problems on a new laptop are never a good sign.

I have the same exact problem. Touch pad stops working for 3 seconds often. Then about once a day it stops working until I close the lid and open back up again. Did this right out of the box. Now I have owned for 2.5 weeks, very disappointed.
