After format & re-install a new Windows XP pro sp2, the DVD/CD button on the left of the laptop do not work any more, only the play/pause is working now. I update the Toshiba Commond Modules, Toshiba Utilties, Toshiba Controls, but still it does not work. Only play/pause is ok. The WinDVD I am using is version 6. I am not sure the version is something do with this matter. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I found that only WINDVD v5 is competible with Toshiba buttom. If you use WinDVD v6, only the play/pause button will work.

I did the same thing and have the same problem. Did you use windvd for Toshiba or the platinum version?

I use the WinDVD platinum version 5.37, and it works fine. All the buttons work correctly. The WinDVD for Toshiba is an older version of 5.0

thanks. I tried it last night and it works....but only when it is booted in windows. Are you able to use the media button to boot into player mode and not windows when the computer is off?

I have the M40 YP3 notebook and have done a clean upgrade to Windows XP Pro but not can't find WINDVD to even play a DVD. Where can I find a copy of it to download? In particular, is there anywhere that I can get it for free? Is there a way of getting it off of one of the discs that Toshiba gives with the notebook or would that reset everything to how the notebook was when I first bought it?

When I press the DVD button it boots but just ends up hanging at a black screen with a blinking cursor. I cant see this as a feature I would really care too much about so if I did it again I would not even bother installing the express media kit.
