So my son wanted my x305 q701 for school, I told him I'd reformat it first and then he could have it.
I tried doing the reboot keep pressing f8/f2 or the Q button and choosing the restore factory option, but it initializes and then brings me back to the desktop.
I've even tried using the back CDs that Toshiba sent to me, and nothing.
I could do it before, but I haven't tried doing one until he asked for the laptop.
I tried thinking back as to what could have happened and the last time I did a factory reset/format was before I sent the x305 in for repairs at a Toshiba certified repair shop.
I'm thinking they did something to the laptop and took out the reboot partition or something.
Any ideas?

I think you need to press the 0 key while the Toshiba logo is being displayed at boot up.
Different models are different. -
If Toshiba zapped the restore partition I would do an base install of windows and DL the drivers from the toshiba support site. IF you do not have a DVD to install win 7 or CD for VISTA these are easily found.
cannot factory reset/format x305 q701
