eBay is your best bet for new/refurbished laptop parts on the cheap, especially optical drives. If you are under warranty, just go though your manufacturer.

Teac's data show this is a standard notebook (slimline, 1/2" / 12.7mm thick) optical drive. Probably any other optical drive with the same thickness will fit. You will need to swap any fixing brackets and the bezel.

The one possible problem is that master / slave is set in the firmware. If your optical drive has an IDE channel for itself then this is not a problem, but if the ODD shares an IDE channel with the HDD then you need an ODD pre-set to slave. You can find out the configuration under IDE ATA / ATAPI controllers in Device Manager. The ODD is usually running in UDMA 2.

Not sure what you mean, but what I found where you suggested is a primary IDE channel and a secondary IDE channel.
    Thanks for the help!

Look at the Advanced Properties for each channel. The primary should have one device with transfer mode Ultra DMA mode 5 (= HDD) and the secondary should have one device using Ultra DMA mode 2 (=ODD).

If so, you can be sure that any replacement ODD of the right physical drive will work.
