In America, there are only two options, the x205 S9349 and the x205 S9359.
The first is about 2000USD and the second option is about 2500USD, the second one comes with upgraded processor, harddrive, tv tuner, vista ultimate and higher resolution screen.
Those are your only options in the US, in other words, they are not customizable. The video card is proprietary, I SUPPOSE you can upgrade the processor, you can definitely upgrade the RAM. -
Yeah, those are the only two different options i found. What do you mean "In America"? Is it customizable somewhere else?

Are they modular?

CPU's are also usually not soldered in place, and can be replaced. This usually requires more work, like using thermal paste and detaching/attaching heat sinks. You should be technically comfortable before replacing this component. Changing this also often voids warranties.
Most graphics components can't be replaced. There are some fledgling standards, and some can be replaced. I'm fairly sure the X205 isn't using one of the replaceable modules. -
According to the specs laid out in the review, the S4757 comes with a Fujitsu 2.5" HDD, 250GB, 4,200rpm.
In addition, as ZaZ states in his review, he had a spare 7,200rpm Seagate drive lying around, so he swapped out the 4200rpm Fujitsu for the 7200rpm Seagate.
That is, if anything, proof positive that the 4200rpm drive in the A215-S4757 can be upgraded; provided, of course, that you know what you're doing and have the right tools when you swap drives - if not, you may not even have a computer (functional, that is) left over.
Toshiba, of course, is very coy about upgrading the HDD, and states that "Considering the technical difficulties that are sometimes present, and the risk of damage to the computer or to the hard disk drive, Toshiba does not offer information or advice about replacement or upgrading of hard disk drives." See: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaS...&dialogID=12844762&stateId=1%200 12842358
In other words, it aint rocket science, but it aint changing a flat tire, either.
Edit: I had actually found the review earlier, when ZaZ first posted it, but I had forgotten about it until just now when I went and checked again.
customizable x205?
