hey i just bought a Toshiba satellite A100-VA9 with the 200gig hard drive...now on the internet it says that the hard drive is 4200 rpm...however at the store it says 5400rpm...I even asked the store sales associate if its 5400 or 4200...He answered 5400rpm and so i purchased it... But now I'm thinking did he lie?? So does anyone know how i can check for sure?
thanks

There is no 5400rpm 200gig hard drive so it is in fact a 4200rpm one. Here's the link from Toshiba's website:

download hd tune and get model # and look it up on hd manufactures site and check specs

this should tell you -
OMG I think im gonna snap...I just checked...its a fujitsu mhv2200bt ..and it is 4200rpm....Ok honestly i waisted all this time going out and buying this laptop, then i waisted more time personalizing it...and now im going to have to return it because I was lied to!
Can i take some legal action for false advertisement or something?? Right in the flier and on the little performance slip it says that this hard drive is 5400 rpm..this is ridiculous. -
I dunno what to tell you...The Product Details on the Futureshop website clearly state that it's 4200.
Why would you want to take it back, by the way? It's an incredible machine. I adore mine. -

Remember that as it's such a high density drive it will actually perform better than a lot of 5400rpm drives. Benchmarks have shown 200 gig 4200rpmn drives are not far off and occasionally surpass 5400rpm 160Gb drives in tests.
did futureshop lie??A100-VA9 5400 rpm hd??
