    drive will not boot

    Hi I have a Tshiba a100 with xp installed I wanted to reinstall windows but when I changed the bios to boot via DVD/CD drive it goes to boot the windows (harddrive)that was already installed I have change different disks to boot via DVD/CD drive and still will not boot via diskdrive I even changed the DVD/CD drive to another cd rom can anyone help please..?

    Normally when it boots,it will ask you to press a key to boot from cd.If you don't press it,it will boot from the next device or HDD.

    Like Rambo said, make sure you press the key to 'boot from CD' when promted to. The prompt only presents itself or a number of seconds, so make sure to pay attention.

    You can also press the F key given at the bottom of the screen during bootup to select a boot device for this boot only, just in case you didn't properly designate the CD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS.

    Also, is the disc bootable? If it is a recovery disc or authentic Windows disc than it definately is. However, if it is a copy burned yourself of the origional, you may have forgot to make it bootable.

    you haven't changed firmware for your hd-dvd drive have you???? I did, and it caused the exact problem you are having.
