the model to replace r500 (dynabook rx1) has been announced quite a few a while ago,
and is now already up for sale in japan
i'm just wondering how long it's gonna take before we get to see it in the US
i'm now planning on getting a 12" laptop
dell e4200 is slightly disappointing since there's no option of HDD configuration
and the upcoming vaio tt is, of course, still 11" and is rather too small for long period use.
the other ultra portable laptops are either too thick or too wide (even wide enough to fit a 13.3" screen) (and they are still called ultra portable, which feels to me pretty irony...)
anybody know what the model number for the international version of RX2 is going to be?
i dont see any updated news yet

Honestly, if it was me ... I considered the Toshiba and ultimately got the Sony Vaio G from Japan from an importer. But I would seriously consider the Vaio Z series if I were you because it's much higher value for your money. I am replacing my G with it and it's that right balance of power to size/weight. The Z still fits in my ultraportable bag.

that's a very good suggestion
i do know that vaio z is definitely one of the most worth buying portable laptop series
and its performance is surely way much higher than any of those under-12-inch ultra portable laptops
but the critical reason is its dimensions.
for me the z series is still too wide, i dont feel like bringing a laptop wider than 29cm
and the dynabook rx2 is only about 2~2.5cm thick
that makes a lot of difference when you don't really need high performance but high mobility, and of course the performance of those netbooks is way below my requirement, thats also why i wouldn't consider the current r500 as i need to do quite a bit image editing and run some flash stuff which take up a lot cpu usage and ram.
besides, i find the design of rx2 or rx1 pretty sexy
