Hi,
From time to time (difficult to predict) I get graphic glitches in Vista's desktop, green areas with clear rectangles in them.
see example here: http://i36.tinypic.com/2vsjkvr.jpg.
This happens in the sidebar or at the tops of windows.

I have a Satellite Pro A200 with 256k ATI HD2600 graphics - definitely powerful enough for Vista - and the operating system is all the Toshiba factory image plus Microsoft updates and all Toshiba updates for my model.
it happens on the first boot of the computer - and then eventually goes away - it's almost like aero loads before the graphics card is fully ready or something. And it only happens sometimes, like every 5th boot or something.
I am running the latest toshiba ATI driver for this model - which is 8.452 - and the latest ATI generic driver is 8.8 but no toshiba version and I am reluctant to modify and install that because i read elsewhere on the forum that using a modded driver is likely to cause overheating.
Note that I have played Bioshock all the way through on this computer with no graphics issues whatsoever, and i've never seen any graphics problems anywhere else (DVD playback or anything) except in aero - that's why i wonder if it's somehow a problem with the interaction between Vista and the driver?
On another forum, someone said they had the same issue with a Satellite 210-14s, which also has the HD2600 with 256M. But no solution for either of us.
Anyone else have something like this and find a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!

Looks like your graphics card is fried or bad drivers.
-
Go to ati.com and download the lastest driver that should fix your problem.
-
If a driver update doesn't fix it, then you may have a bad card. Looks like a possibly bad memory chip(s).
EDIT: Since it doesn't seem to happen in games, it is most likely a driver issue.

Using mobility modder on the latest generic driver and catalyst from ati's website finally seems to have corrected this problem.
