    hi,

i noticed that my toshiba doesn't have bass at all . i am aware that it will not be big , but it should be something there ...

how can i activate all the speekers ? i noticed that in speeker setup i only have the option for STEREO 2 speakers .

is this normal or do i need a new driver and to change some settings ?

    thank you in advance.

If it is like the X205 the subwoofer and if it has one is on the right front corner of laptop on the bottom of the laptop and you would see an circular area with a bunch of tiny holes cut out.

It should. Check the underside of the laptop, by the fans. You should see two fan intakes (one on each side) and a set of holes cut in a circular pattern, which would be the sub.

The X205/x200 has 4 speakers with an integrated subwoofer.
Are you sure you are looking at the bottom of the laptop?

Kdawgca, Thanks man that is what we needed, that picture should help him locate the subwoofer. As far as not having any bass, that would be a driver issue and one thing I hate about Vista is that you do not get the EQ function on the sound card drivers. I am running XP and I get the EQ and am able to adjust the sound so I get defined bass and trebel levels to were I like them to be at, that is why I went back to XP (this is my second time installing XP, forst was on 9349 and this time on my sli1)

    thank you

    yes, the woofer is there.

here my exact laptop model :
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe....p/productPage.do?service=EU&PRODUCT_ID=135317

But despite of having the woofer i can only use 2 stereo speakers in windows sound - speaker setup . I only have the option for stereo

could this be a driver issue ? i have installed the sound drivers from toshiba's website. but still i cannot change the speaker's settings in Windows

PS: i am running on Vista 32

This is correct... It should not have the separate subwoofer config, it outputs stereo and then uses hardware filtering/splitting to separate LF signal for subwoofer.

Though its more properly to be called "bass enhancer". This is defenitely not a true subwoofer - at best it will manage down to 100Hz. No way to fit the properly sized speaker into laptop.

    i see.

ok . but , how can i actvate the function ? "bass enhancer" ?
as i said , there is not bass coming out of the woofer . Is there an option i should activate somewhere ?

i found this page over the internet .
    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gutsy_Intel_HD_Audio_Controller

    check under toshiba x205 :
    Toshiba

Satellite x205-S7483 (Sound works, but low volume, no sub woofer, and headphone jack inoperable)

Umm, you dont have to activate it. It should work with standard stereo config, and even with default (non-realtek) Vista HD Audio drivers out of the box. Try fiddling with drivers - remove the Realtek drivers and/or try to reinstall.

Though maybe its a hardware problem (disconnected cord?).
