Hi, my dad has this new satellite a135 laptop, pretty nice, for him at least. Anyway there is this really annoying transparent menu that sits hidden on the upper part of the desktop. When you try to change screen brightness with the Fn key, it pops down, if i hover the mouse too close, it will pop down also. It's basically a menu for controlling basic hardware options.
Anyway its annoying and hogs system resources when you accidentally hover the mouse. so my dad wants to remove it, thing is this thing has so much crap i dont even know what it is. ive removed a lot of stuff but its still there!!
Please help.

Ok, I just got a Toshiba u205 notebook, and at first I had the same question. I figured out that you if you enable them but put them at the bottom of the screen (this can be done in the settings utility) and don't allow them to pop up on a mouse-over, they're pretty unobtrusive.
I'd rather not have them running, but I can't get the hotkeys to work if I completely disable the program. Has anyone found a better alternative to the TCrdMain.exe utility? -
You can disable ONLY the dropdown menu by doing the following:
Use the task manager (ctrl/alt/del) to stop tcrdmain.exe from running. Then, with Windows Explorer, left-click on "Computer", the Drive letter, "Program Files", "TOSHIBA", and finally "FlashCards". Then RENAME tcrdmain.exe (I renamed it tcrdmainXXX.exe). Then bootup and ONLY the dropdown menu will be gone. The remainder of Flash Cards will remain, allowing you to use the hotkeys to do those special things such as controlling the display brightness. Reboot and you're done!
Do NOT delete tcrdmain.exe unless you're sure you'll never want it again.
how to remove transparent menu on upper part of desktop?
