Hi all i found this toshiba in bestbuy and it seems best ive found so far in my price range $800. I not sure how battery life is on recommended settings or power saver but hoping for at least 3 hours on battery power when internet surfing and running music and webcam. I also Game and Play World of warcraft everquest 1 & 2 occassionally and sometimes NWN. I would like to know if this laptop will run these games on medium settings- no shadows or weather and usually med particle effects....but dont know anything about toshiba if they get hot ? if they break down alot ? or if they have any tech support chat or all phone only? hows the video card? can the processor ever be upgraded? or video since its dedicated? heres the laptop

Look at other options, especially if you can buy online, that way you can customize it. Recommended HDD speed is 5400, but runs better on 7200 RPM. The HD 3650 will be able to play WOW, heck it could play Crysis on Low settings. The only thing about the laptop configuration that you have listed that may be a worry is the processor. Very slow. Would recommend above a 2.3GHz processor for gameplay and just normal working in Vista, otherwise, the computer is going to be notoriously slow. Also, try to veer away from using graphics that have shared memory. For gaming, you want something that has its own memory and does not bog down the system.

What I would recommend is to save up some money and get a better notebook. Also, definitely do your research, Toshiba has been notorious for not providing good customer service. I used to have a Toshiba Qosmio and they stopped support on my video card, so I got stuck with a faulty video card. Basically, when I would play games, it would play well for maybe an hour and cause the entire system to crash. Even now, there isn't an updated driver.

Eventually sold it and got a Sager NP5797 online. Definitely the gaming laptop for hard core gamers :D . Not Alienware!!

I like to go all out on laptops, but not replace desktops entirely. That's why I dont have a Quad Core or an Intel Extreme processor in my laptop. But do have a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz processor.

My advice would be to take a look at ASUS's line of notebooks. They have some really good ones that would fall around the range that you are looking for. Most of them you have to order online though. :(

    Happy shopping.
