    What? Throw it away? No, keep it, but it wasn't a great deal, I mean, you could have done a bit better for the price.

    The specs aren't great. But it's a nice laptop so I guess you didn't get ripped off too badly.

    It is OK. The biggest drawback from a performance perspective is lack of a dedicated graphics card. But you should get better battery life as a result. The better question is "will this laptop meet your needs". One thing you might consider is whether you will be taking this to class, the library, etc. on a regular basis. It is a bit big and heavy to be hauling around a lot. If you are worried about that you might go with something smaller like a Dell Studio 14z. It currently starts at between $600-$700 at my local university bookstore. The only downside is no internal optical/DVD drive (although you can get an external one as an option). If you go that route, get it from your university bookstore and you can get a pretty substantial educational discount.
