hello from greece. i recently bought a sm30-604 laptop an there is a problem with the keyboard that's very annoing.the problem is about the keyboard.sometimes there is a delay (about 2-3 secs)from the time that i press a key from the keyboard and the time the letter appears on the screen.that thing drives me crazy.on device manager my keyboard appears as a standar 101/102-key or microsoft natural ps/2 keyboard.is there anything i can do like installinga driver or something else?

Have you tried checking the Keyboard settings in the Control Panel? You can change the delay rate of your keystrokes. This may be the problem.

If that's not the case, then the only thing I can currently think of would be your OS or some software installed in the system casuing the problem. Are you running XP Home that came with the system or did you upgrade to Pro? If you're not running the original OS that came with the system, this could be a cause of the problem. Try putting the original OS back on using the Restore CD's and see what happens. Makre sure you backup all your data. If this doesn't resolve the problem, then it's likely it's a hardware problem. You would then need to send it in for service.

i am not using xp home but original pro from my previous pc
at this time the problem disappeared so i hope this is the end -
I have a Toshiba Satellite 2450 with the same keyboard delay problem.
Whenever I type, there is a delay or sometimes the keys that I press do not appear on the screen.
This can happen on the login screen or in some applications.
It also happens when I use an external USB keyboard.
I am running XP Pro. The computer came with XP home, but I upgraded it.
I am running Norton Antivirus.
Could this be causing the problem or is it a Windows problem?
I run a full scan every week and have not detected any virii.

I have a tecra a3 running WiXP Pro and i had the same problem.
I solved it by stopping the process known as "TCtrlIOHook", and going into regedit and msconfig so i can cancel its load during system start.
Alternately, you can stop any process that HOOKS any accesibility tool with your keyboard.
I hope it helps someone! Bye.
