You sound like you hosed your registry. Maybe contact Kaspersky for a manual delete. You might get lucky with a registry cleaner if kaspersky clueless.

In any case, make sure your files are backed up..we all do that right? The reason is sometimes you save a bunch of time by erasing and use your restore partition to just do a new OS install.

Did you try that delete under "safe mode"? Did you contact Kaspersky? Is your restore partition still on your original drive? Use the excellent Microsoft Security Essentials or Malwarebytes instead of Kaspersky.

Like I said, a restore will usually save you a bunch of time or YOU will have to spend the time to root out and repair the registry. Sorry, not an expert with registry repair so can't give you step by step. Anyone else?

OP, did you try right-clicking regedit.exe and opting to run as administrator to try deleting the entry? Also, did you try searching for keywords (such as 'kaspersky') in the registry to find every instance of them and remove them that way? It's a laborious, drawn out task but in regedit, select 'Edit'>'Find' and type your keyword - 'F3' moves onto the next instance of the particular word, and just delete each registry key that is presented if you want rid of them. It goes without saying though - BACK UP EVERYTHING - before doing this because if you delete the wrong thing you'll need one!
