Before I give up totally on Toshiba laptops after my motherboard failed, please give me some insights into this calamity. I was routinely watching a news video when my M45-S169 4-year-old laptop went blank. The green power light shut off. It was dead. Diagnosis by technician: motherboard collapse. Get a new laptop. It would not seem logical for me to get another Toshiba, right? What causes motherboard failures anyway? (In this case, it had been just sitting in its usual desk spot unmoved for weeks. No bumps. no jolts.)
