Hello, I just have a general question. I have a toshiba laptop and I use it on my bed quite often. At one time it overheated, but shut off and then started working fine (i was playing movies). Is there any dangers associated with laptops or to myself while using it in bed? I've recently used this hoist thing so that it is not directly sitting on my bed.

The covers on the bed can block the air vents sometimes if its setting directly on the bed, which is not recommended. As long as theres adequate airflow, it should be fine.

Heat is your notebook's worst enemy. Blocking the vents will only increase the risk of damage to the components due to heat.

I'd recommend you get a notebook pad or cooler to sit it on while you use it in bed. Otherwise, be very careful not to let the intakes get blocked.

Or get that nice, thick book out of your bookcase and use it under your laptop. I do that all the time and my macbook pro's just fine.

That definitely works too. Any hard surface will help you to keep the intakes unobstructed.

    Great suggestion.
