    Hi all

went to my local laptop dealer (that is the only one) that can do, I have found on my toshiba m30 satellite I own authorised to replace the dvdrw drive

its going to cost me $700 for the friggen DRIVE

now I have heard of over charging but this he tells me is because its security coded and he has to do it ??? and replace it with an original toshiba dvdrw drive as nothing will work in the slot unless its done by him!!

has anyone heard of such crap

    thanks

He's full of it. Parts from the manufacturer usually cost more, but that seems way out of line since it is gonna take 10 minutes if he knows what he is doing.

An external drive will offer better quality and speed.

If you really want an internal drive, you can look on eBay and Newegg for some. I would also try calling the Toshiba spare parts depot and see if they have the drive.

That sounds like a load of crap, you should report him to Toshiba.
