Does it only happen when playing Web Video in Media Player, or does it happen elsewhere? If it's just web video, it could be the video being played or media player trying to play those videos. Try playing regular videos on your system (try to match file type, AVI, MPG, MOV, etc....) using Windows Media Player, if it plays fine then it's just that web video causing the problem. If it does the same with those media files on your HDD, then it could be related to the Codec for that file type. If the problem occurs with all media file types, then it's your media player/OS.

    1. If it's the web video causing problem, just to try to play that web video

    2. If it's a specific file type, re-install the codec for that file type and re-try

    3. If it happens to all media types in Windows Media Player, try re-installing Media Player or update to a newer version. If this doesn't fix it, try re-loading the OS. Finally, if that doesn't fix it, then it's most likely a hardware problem. This would require you to send the unit in for service.

Look, I just went to http://apprentice.tv.yahoo.com/ and tried to play something there. First my Norton Internet Security kept blocking it (I don't know if this could be the problem?!?!) and when i disabled it and played it, the same screen thing described above happened. If someone could tell me which codecs to reinstall for that, etc. that would be helpful. I'll do anything but f'n service =P!

I just went to that link & tried to play the Exclusive Videos, it asked me to install the Windows Media Player 9 Codec. Once I installed it, everything worked fine. No black screen or flickering of any kind. Looks like your Norton's Internet Security is stopping the install of the WMP 9 Codec. Looks like it's a software problem. I just recently reloaded my entire OS (HDD failing, got a replacement), so IO'm working off a clean load right now. You may want to try the same thing. I can't guarantee that a reload will work, but is worth a try. Or at least try to reload the WMP 9 Codec or Windows Media Player (upto v10 right now) and see what happens.
