for the jm3 is there a graphics driver update? It uses a Geforce go 6600. I tried installing the generic nvidia update, but it wouldn't install. For graphics, but programs or drivers should i install to optimize my card? How can i test my card? It runs hl2, but it quite a bit some times. It runs battlefield 2, but very laggy.

I'd suggest going to www.omegadrivers.net and trying their modded nvidia drivers. I used the ones for my ATi card - I saw a 10-15% performance increase, definitely worth trying.

Test your card using Futuremark's 3DMark05 and 3DMark03. Just download the free ones and see what score you get.

And, since you said BF2 was lagging...there weren't any other programs, like an instant messenger or media player open in the background, correct? Because if there were, that would slow down the machine. I'd try disabling some background services and then try playing a game.

im not sure why, but i can't update my video drivers. Im using forceware 71.00 or something like that, so i try to update to 77.70 for mobile cards and it says something about not suitable driver for your system. and i tryed the 77.77 and the same problem. Anyhelp? Does anyone know if the m40-jm3 should be able to run battlefield 2, mine doesn't.. at a playable pace anyways.

If you're downloading the original drivers from Nvidia, it won't work on a notebook. I assume you tried the Forceware 77.70 Go drivers (you said for mobile cards). Did you try installing using the installer or just by going to device manager and manually updating the drivers? If you tried the installer, try manual instead.

Also, here's the link if you didn't use the 77.70 Go drivers:

yeah, i tried the go card driver... said it wasn't suitable. I'll try manual install and tell you how things go.
