hi all, i was wondering if any of yall have problems with your touchpad getting overly warm. the bottom of my notebook stays fairly warm, however the touchpad and where i rest my hands to type gets so warm. is this normal and would a notebook cooling pad help this problem? thanks for your help.

I have a M40-YP3, and the area around - especially the touchpad itself does get fairly warm.
While it's noticeable and not ideal, I wouldn't say its bothersome.
Your unit is slightly different so I don't know...I dont have a proper tool to measure the temp either.
If you find it unbearable than you should take it back while you can.
In terms of hardware failure, the touchpad would probably be too hot to touch if the laptop was about to overheat.
If you are using the laptop on your lap, the air intake holes might also be blocked, causing the temperature to rise. Try using it on a flat surface so the fans arn't being blocked.
Using your laptop on your lap is also potentially harmful to your testicals, as the warm laptop will certainly raise the temperature in your groin area. Not a joke, I read it in a paper.

haha thanks for the advice...fortunetly i'm a girl so i won't have this problem. yeah, the heat doesn't seem to be a problem enough to take it back, i have loved it otherwise. of course, minus the battery life, but i knew that from the start. thanks!
