    max DVD drive height in u500?

    I need to replace the stock DVD burner in my u500 13.3 notebook. Can anyone confirm if a 12.7mm drive will fit?

    The stock drive is a Mata (Panasonic) UJ862A S. I am looking at a Panasonic UJ240 (a Blu-ray burner).

    By the way, the stock drive has failed under warranty, but Toshiba won't send a replacement. They insist that I have to ship my entire notebook to do something I am perfectly capable of doing myself. It will cost me far more in lost productivity than the cost of a replacement drive.

    Sorry Toshiba - last sale with that policy. I have otherwise been very happy.
