    Hi,

My brother is going to buy a Toshiba Sat M60-BK3,

    Cpu Sonama 1.86 Ghz, Ram 512 DDRII, 100+ GB, DVD RW, 17" WXGA+B, VGA 128 Nvidia, ... Price : 1670 $ > U.S.

Any comment about it ? or you recommand any better choice with that budget ?

    with a lot of thanks.

I have the M60 that has it's specs in my signature. A lot of people say that the build quality of Toshiba has gone down, but I don't have any complaints about my machine. I do a little light gaming and I have the 128 MB X600SE card and it works fine for what I need it for. The 6600 card should be a little better than my card so it will play pretty much everything out there relatively well. If you fill out the FAQ at the top of the forum, we would be able to recommend a notebook that would be a perfect fit.

That's a fairly decent notebook for the price range - the 6600 Go is more than capable of playing todays modern games at medium to high settings. If you want another option, you can take a look at the Sager NP-5320 - it's around the same price as the Toshiba, but comes with 256MB of the ATI X700 and is bulkier than the Toshiba is.

ive got the exact same machine..the BK3. i love it. build quality is fine, i carry it around quite a bit, and while it is a little heavy i dont mind but its not a thin and light. it is however, thin and light for a 17" notebook.

    Hi,

I bought my brother a M65 ! Well it is not bad, great looking monitor, big hard disk, it is fast too & as you guys said it is a fairly light notebook for a 17" one & not too thick eithere ...

But there are some bad points about it which drive me nuts !!!! Firstly, I should mention its noisy fans !!! :noisyfan: second, it is stupid intelligence system to get that the lid is closed or not, it is a button that might be pressed by anyone doesnt know what it is & the system would go to standby or hibernate mode !!! STUPID DESIGN !:base: After all it's the keyboard which is N levels lower than my IBM keyboard !!!

anyway enough complaining about it :D Overall it is not the best thing but for this budget & these features ( LCD , ... ) it is a good choice ;)

I love you my R52 (IBM), even with your ugly design & matte Screen :D
